Takmeel-e-Pakistan Resolution Support Ribbon
I have just made a small script for supporting the Takmeel-e-Pakistan Resolution. The usage is quite simple, just include the following in the head tags:
<script>
function supportRibbon(supportMessage) {if(supportMessage == null)supportMessage = ‘I support Takmeel – e – Pakistan Resolution’;supportMessage += ‘| <span style=”font-family:\’Jameel Noori Nastaleeq\’,\’Urdu Naskh AsiaType\’”>ميں قرارداد تکميل پاکستان کا حامي ہوں</font>’;document.write(‘<div style=”position:fixed;bottom:0px;left:2px;z-index:200;height:20px; width:99% ;background-color:rgba(0,100,0,0.7); color:white; -webkit-border-radius:3px; -moz-border-radius:3px;border:1px solid #005000; cursor:hand; text-align:center;” title=”Click for more information.” onclick=”window.open(\’http://www.takmeel.pk\’)”><span style=”text-decoration:none; font-family:\’Calibri\’, \’Tahoma\’, Serif;”>’+supportMessage+’</a></div>’);}</script>
Now call this script anywhere withing your <body> tag.
<script>supportRibbon()</script>
or
<script>supportRibbon('You customized Message')</script>
This script automatically links back to the Takmeel.pk website. Feel free to modify and use this script. As letmenot.com doesn’t allow me to alter its themes, so I am unable to apply it here. Do try it out.
Wide Screen 1440×900 Resolution
I have an Intel G33/G31 built in video controller in my machine and got this ViewSonic VA1716w LCD but wasn’t able to find appropriate display settings (1440 x 900 resolution) in Windows XP. Tried many tricks but failed. Yesterday, I stumbled upon JJClements blog to find the fix which worked out perfectly on my configuration. I am still surprised why intel isn’t supporting this resolution by default while their controller can handle it properly.
I am packing the driver again for reuse, and also attaching the .inf file if you already have the driver.
Please follow these steps:
- Download the driver (or the inf file – links given at the end of post)
- Unpack the driver to some directory. (You do not need to install it yet)
- Or copy the downloaded inf file to the drivers (if you already have em) and overwrite the file when prompted.
- Right Click the My Computer icon and click properties. (Win+Pause will work)
- Select Hardware tab and click Device Manager.
- Click the ‘+’ sign on display adapters and select Intel G33/G31 adapter.
- Right Click and select Uninstall
- Restart Windows
- It should ask to install display drivers
- Select do not connect to internet click next
- Select the path where you’ve unpacked the drivers / placed the new inf file
- It should show progress bar indicating the installation process
- Restart window and now select the 1440×900 resolution from Display Properties. (Desktop, Right Click, Settings)
- Here you go with the native resolution for your new display. Should work on any LCD/TFT/Display supporting 1440×900
- If you need any help you can just leave a comment here, i’ll respond to it as soon as I can.

- Just the Inf file
Windows Vista and Win 7 drivers may be different, but if you read the blog mentioned earlier, that should work you out.

Dvorak Simplified Keyboard Layout
Dvorak – pronounced De-vo-rak and sometimes De-vo-yak but never De-work. I call it vo-rak! Dvorak Simplified Keyboard (DSK) Layout is an alternate keyboard layout that’s more ergonomic and efficient than the traditional “qwerty” layout we’re all familiar with.
The “qwerty” layout is a random arrangement of keys which limits the typing speed to avoid key jams on old mechanical typewriters. DSK was patent by Dr. Augustus Dvorak in 1939. However the world had already adopted the former layout to an extent that efforts of making DSK a standard never really worked.
Dr. Dvorak said:
I’m tired of trying to do something worthwhile for the human race, they simply don’t want to change!”
The myth of 786
Seven-eight-six, it makes me sick! there is absolutely non-sense involved in abbreviating bism illāh ir-Raḥmān ir-Raḥīm as 786. Some people are just too lazy to write this beautiful verse of Holy Quran while beginning their writings, so they just abbreviate it to numbers. How come numbers communicate the meanings of language, they were never meant to express the vast knowledge hidden in hundreds of human languages.
First things first, the numerology involved in converting Arabic to numbers is based on Hebrew arrangement of letters. Hebrew letters are arranged in A – B – G – D (Abjd) fashion.
